Awards For Outstanding UK Business The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are the UK's most prestigious Awards for business performance. They recognise and reward outstanding achievement by UK companies. They are presented in three separate categories:
- International Trade - recognising companies that have demonstrated growth in overseas earnings.
- Innovation - recognising companies that have demonstrated commercial success through innovative products or services.
- Sustainable Development - recognising companies that have integrated environmental, social, economic and management aspects of sustainable development into their business.
The Awards are made each year by The Queen, on the advice of the Prime Minister, who is assisted by an Advisory Committee that includes representatives of Government, industry and commerce, and the trade unions.
Is my business good enough? Judging is thorough, so you should apply only if you can answer a definite 'yes' to these four questions:
- Does your business have a base in the UK?
- Does your business employ at least two full-time workers (or part-time equivalent)?
- Do you believe your business is one of the best?
- Can you demonstrate commercial success?
Which types of organisation apply? Each year winners come from a wide range of industry sectors, and it is becoming increasingly common for non-profit making organisations to apply and win.
Winners are of all sizes, ranging in 2009, from organisations with just two employees to organisations with many thousands.
