* HRH The Duke of York Tells North West Businesses - 'Join The Elite'

29/06/2004

Winners of The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the best in the business – and you can join them, HRH The Duke of York will tell North West companies at a ‘royal’ seminar in Preston on 8 July.

Organisations from Cumbria to Cheshire are registering for the breakfast briefing at the Preston Marriott Hotel, to learn how The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise can boost business success and staff morale.  Besides HRH there will be speakers from existing North West  Award holders from Manchester and Blackburn.

“There’s still time to sign up – but you must hurry,” says Stephen Brice, Acting Secretary at The Queen’s Awards Office.  “The North West has produced many worthy winners but we know there are a lot more talented firms out there.

“Entries are now being sought for the 2005 Awards, and any firm of merit can enter. Size is irrelevant - nearly half of the 2004 winners have fewer than 50 employees and a score have fewer than 10.  After all, small and medium sized companies employ 12 million people in the UK and contribute £1 trillion a year to our economy.”

The breakfast seminar is being organised by UK Trade & Investment and The Queen’s Awards Office.  HRH The Duke of York will give the keynote address, while the benefits of winning will be outlined by speakers from Promethean Ltd, Blackburn, Medeval Ltd, Manchester and the Co-operative Bank, Manchester.
