Prudential is one of four UK financial services companies to have their achievements acknowledged with a Queen's Award for Enterprise this year.
Pru is the biggest business ever in monetary terms to win a Queen's Award, which it received in the international trade section for the growth it has achieved in overseas markets over the last three years.
It has 23 operations in 12 countries, with 75% of total earnings coming from its overseas operations. Earnings from these ventures have doubled over three years.
Pru has seen particularly strong growth in its US business Jackson National Life and Prudential Corporation Asia.
Other winners in the international category were commercial and industrial property insurer FM Insurance and Streamline International, part of the Royal Bank of Scotland group, which provides multi-currency cross-border credit card processing services.
In the sustainable development category, Triodos Bank in Bristol was acknowledged for its innovative approach to savings, investment and business banking for firms with social, cultural and environmental goals.
Pru group chief executive Jonathoan Bloomer says: "We are delighted to receive this award, which endorses Pru's international strategy and is testament to the energy and commitment of our people who have made our overseas operations the success they are today."
