TOUR: The secretary to the Prime Minister’s Advisory Committee, David Moore, was to visit Silsden firm Snugpak Ltd today as part of a three-day tour of Queen’s Award-winning firms in the Yorkshire and Humber.
He was aiming to see the effects on the company of winning its "corporate knighthood" in 2002 and what messages the experience may hold for applicants for the 2007 Awards.
Snugpak, as Brett Harris Ltd, has manufactured high-quality sleeping bags and insulated clothing using high performance fabrics and lightweight synthetic fill for 30 years.
Husband and wife team Bryony and Brett Harris, quick to spot a trend, began in 1976 by producing bodywarmers, and by 2002 as Snugpak they had won a Queen’s Award for International Trade after quadrupling their overseas business.
