Jewellers Scoop Queen’s Award - Retail Jeweller

Three very different London jewellery companies are amongst the 145 winners in this year’s Queen’s Award for Enterprise – the UK’s highest accolade for business success.
The Bond Street jeweller Graff received its forth award for Enterprise in International Trade. The company has doubled its overseas earnings in the past three years and over 95% of its sales are to overseas customers. Graff currently has 20 stores worldwide but all its jewellery is made in London workshops by a specialist team of some 70 craftsmen.
Grant Macdonald, Managing Director of Grant Macdonald (Silversmiths) Ltd is also recognised for his international trade. His company has raised its exports by 73% to more than £3 million per annum and increased the proportion of its overseas earnings from 81% to 94% over three years. Macdonald told Retail Jeweller that he likes to think that his company provides the best of Bristish and upholds integrity in design and craftsmanship.
Jason Holt of R Holt of Hatton Garden received a personal award for Enterprise Promotion, one only ten awards to an individual given each year. This was bestowed of Jason for his efforts to encourage new skills and business growth and for his work creating Holts Academy of Jewellery. He told Retail Jeweller: “We identified the areas of greatest skills shortage and encouraged the craftsmen and women in our trade to share their expertise with the outside world.”
