I-level scoops Queens Award for innovation

LONDON - Independent online media buyer I-level has been awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise and is understood to be the first digital company to be chosen in this category.

I-level is one of 40 companies awarded under the innovation category, and was able to demonstrate substantial improvement in business performance and commercial success to levels that are outstanding for the size of the applicant's operations, sustained over five years. Andrew Walmsley, co-founder of I-level, said: "When we started the agency in 1999, we understood that online, media and commerce were just different sides of the same coin; that we used the same tools to execute advertising as we did to sell things online. We built the agency around this thought, and developed new ways of working that created a stop-change in business success for our clients. This award is recognition for this transformation." I-level clients include Orange, the AA, I3SkyB, Smile and William Hill. The agency employs 120 full time staff, and its billings for 2006 were £80m.
