The Oueen's Awards for Enterprise, announced last month, included winners from all sectors of business and industry. Her Majesty the Queen announced a total of 123 awards: 62 for international trade, 51 for innovation and 10 for sustainable development.

Among the winners for international trade this year are, Alstom Power's Engineering Technology Centre and AMEC Group. A micro-machined silicon gyroscope from BAE Systems' Inertial Systems Division in Plymouth won an innovation award, as did Oxford Instruments for its 900 MHz superconducting magnets for applications in life science and drug discovery. There was also an innovation award for Dyson's development of cyclone technology in its bagless vacuum cleaners.

BT Group won an award for its programme for sustainable development, while ICI's Uniqema division won an award in the same category for a range of synthetic refrigeration lubricants. Award winners are entitled to use the Queen's Award emblem for five years, symbolising success and good business practice
