Firm's brush with Royalty
Two Ashfield businesses are celebrating after they were recognised in
the Queen's Awards for Enteprrise 2008.
Annesly-based OneClick Techology Ltd, which operates on Lake View Drive, won an award in the Innovation category for its work in producing the intelliPluG, an ingelligent three-way mains adaptor which turns off automatically to help in the fight against climate change.
Kirby firm Romo Ltd was honoured in the International Trade category for its specialist work in furnishing, upholstery fabrics and wall covering. And as part of their success, staff members from both firms were treated to a once-in-a lifetime trip to Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh during a special ceremony.
Delighted Johnathon Mould, Chief Executive of Romo Ltd told Chad: "Receiving the Queen's award has been an honour and a delight". It has given Romo a wonderful opportunity to celebrate, and the excuse to organise a day of celebrations to personally thank our staff. "The positive effect throughout the company has been incredible. I am sure that this prestigious endorsement can only further the future prospects for our company, it has certainly given us all a moral boost".
Kim Roberts, facilities services director at OneClick, told Chad the company had been honoured to receive the award. She said: "We employ just 12 staff and this award is great credit to our workforce for their hard work and dedication. "Our manaigng director Peter Robertson and technical director Ian Brown were introduced to the Queen first. "It was a great honour for them to chat to the Queen about our products and has really helped to put our firm and the area on the map. We have further expanded our range and are receiving interst from as far away as Asia. The Queen's Awards for Enteprise are the UK's most prestigious corporate Award for business excellence and recognise the acheivement of the successful business unit, including both management and general staff. The awards cover International Trade, Innovation, and Sustainable Development categories.
