Queen’s Awards Boost Enterprise
01/04/2003

Winning a Queen's Award for Enterprise can actively help companies gather new business, according to research from the Queen's Award office. Positive effects of winning an Award also include increased recognition both at home and in export markets, the research says.
The office surveyed 172 previous winners of Enterprise Awards. Four-fifths of these reported that winning an award significantly boosted the morale of their staff, while 65 per cent said they had benefited from press coverage of their win. Almost a quarter of the respondents said that the effects of winning the Award surpassed their expectation, while 28 per cent said it improved their competitiveness. And 10 per cent said that the Award had helped them attract increased new business.
'We have always known that a Queen's Award is more than a prestigious honour - it also brings genuine business benefits to winning companies,' says Acting Secretary of the Queen's Award office, Steve Brice, who is to announce this year's winners later this month. 'This new research clearly demonstrates the continuing value of a Queen's Award to today's top UK businesses.'
