A Dalkeith company has been presented with a prestigious Queen’s Jubilee award for its community work.
Christopher Shaw MBE, chairman of McSence, accepted the marble obelisk and a citation which were handed over by the Queen’s representative, the Lord Lieutenant, yesterday.
Founded in 1988, the charity creates sustainable community-owned businesses, training and employing local people in Mayfield.
Among the companies established is McSence Heatwise, which specialises in the installation of draught proofing and insulation under the National Government Home Energy Efficiency Scheme. All proceeds from businesses have been ploughed back into McSence or used to improve community facilities.
