* Business is Honoured with a Royal Seal of Approval

31/07/2003

Warrington Guardian

Amec has been given the highest honour that can be bestowed on a UK business in a presentation at its Birchwood offices.
The Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2003 was given to Amec for its work in world markets and international trade, and for a four-fold increase in its export earnings over the past three years.
The company’s excellent safety standards, and its success in developing customer and supplier relationships, were also recognised by judges for the award.
Amec has completed many complex projects and services and recently expanded to challenging areas such as Azerbaijan, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, the Philippines and Saudi Arabia. It has strong prospects for further expansion around the world.
The Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, William Bromley-Davenport JP, presented the prestigious Award to Amec’s chief executive, David Robson.
Clr Pauline Nelson, the Mayor of Warrington, and Mike Hall, MP for Weaver Vale, also attended the ceremony.
Chief executive David Robson said: “It is as a result of the hard work and professionalism of many thousands of dedicated people across our entire business.
“We are all very proud of this achievement.”
Amec is an engineering services company, which works within the oil, gas, petrochemical, and processing industries. Its revenue is £5.5billion per year.
