Sustained Success - 01/05/2003
Companies excelling in environmental and sustainable development initiatives are among the 120 organisations to have won a Queen's Award for Enterprise.
Winners include a company which manufactures machines for recycling cardboard boxes into packaging material, a major telecommunications group for its 'programme for sustainable development', a company specialising in sustainable architecture and a firm which provides a reprographic waste collection service for the printing and photographic industries.
There were 10 awards to companies involved in sustainable development, including BT Group Ltd, The Beacon Press, Feilden Clegg Bradley Architects, J&G Environmental Ltd and Rockware Glass.
Alan Johnson, minister of state for employment relations, industry and the regions, said: "To win a Queen's Award for Enterprise is a significant business achievement. Successful companies can be justifiably proud of their success - they have proved they are leaders in their field, and among the most innovative and enterprising businesses in the country. "As such, they represent powerful role models to aspiring firms throughout Britain and around the world."
